- Caution
- Hypoglycemia; do not mix with other insulins.
- Storage
- Unopened vials and pens in the refrigerator (36 to 46 °F), never frozen; in-use at room temperature for 42 days.
- Pregnancy
- Insulin is the preferred treatment for diabetes in pregnancy; detemir has clinical-trial data supporting use in pregnancy.

- Low blood sugar
- Weight gain
- Injection-site lipohypertrophy
- Injection-site reaction
