Stopping early raises the risk of thrombotic events and stroke; spinal or epidural hematoma with neuraxial anesthesia or spinal puncture.
- Caution
- Serious bleeding; the 15 mg and 20 mg doses must be taken with food to be absorbed.

- Bleeding or easy bruising
- Nosebleeds
- Blood in urine or stool
- Anemia
- Prolonged bleeding from cuts
Key interactions
- NSAIDs and aspirin raise bleeding risk
- Avoid other blood thinners unless directed
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors raise levels (ketoconazole)
- St. John's wort may lower its effect
