Boxed warning

Seizures, most often in patients on long-term benzodiazepines or in mixed overdoses with tricyclic antidepressants.

Caution
Resedation can occur because flumazenil is shorter-acting than most benzodiazepines; monitor for at least 2 hours.

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Seizures

  • Reverses only benzodiazepines: no effect on opioids
  • Risk of seizure rises with tricyclic antidepressant overdose
