Caution
Anaphylaxis is treated with the 1 mg/mL product given intramuscularly into the thigh; the 0.1 mg/mL product is the IV strength, and confusing the two is a 10-fold error.
Storage
Room temperature, protected from light; replace the auto-injector if the solution is discolored or expired.

  • Fast, pounding heartbeat
  • Tremor and anxiety
  • Pallor and dizziness
  • Headache

  • Beta blockers can blunt its effect
  • Additive effects with other stimulants
  • Tricyclics and MAO inhibitors intensify its cardiac effects

Counseling points

  • Inject into the outer thigh: through clothing if needed
  • Call 911 immediately after; a second reaction can follow hours later
  • Do not inject into a vein, buttock, hand, or foot
  • Check the expiry and the solution: discard if discolored
