Fatal if given intrathecally: for intravenous use only; also a vesicant that causes severe tissue damage on extravasation.
- Caution
- Dispensed in a minibag, never a syringe, so it cannot be mistaken for an intrathecal dose; do not confuse with vinBLAStine.
- Storage
- Refrigerate (36 to 46 F); protect from light; label "FOR INTRAVENOUS USE ONLY, FATAL IF GIVEN BY OTHER ROUTES".
- Pregnancy
- Avoid in pregnancy: fetal harm.

- Constipation
- Hair loss
- Low blood counts

- Additive neuropathy with other neurotoxic agents
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors raise its level
