Key warning
Boxed warning: suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children, adolescents and young adults — that, and only that, is what is boxed. Separately (Warnings & Precautions, not the box) dose-dependent QT PROLONGATION is citalopram's distinguishing risk, which is why the maximum is 40 mg/day, and 20 mg/day for patients over 60, hepatic impairment, CYP2C19 poor metabolizers, or those on interacting drugs.
