Profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and death when combined with opioids; abuse, misuse, addiction, and withdrawal reactions on abrupt stopping.

Caution
Short half-life makes rebound anxiety and withdrawal seizures more likely on abrupt stopping.
Pregnancy
Avoid if possible: neonatal sedation and withdrawal, especially with late-pregnancy use.
